Visa application submitted. Original passport provided. Photo and biometric fingerprints were obtained. Now, I patiently await the results, which are expected to arrive in 4 to 5 weeks. Each day, I draw closer to fulfilling my study abroad dream.
The Waiting Period of My Study Abroad Dream
During this waiting period, I have decided to dedicate my time to organising my businesses. Temporarily putting Glass Chopstick Consulting on hold, pursuing a marketing consulting path is less fulfilling for me than I initially thought. Instead, I find greater enjoyment in management, productivity, and operations. While marketing can generate income, it also drains my energy. I have recognised my strengths and passion for handling operations.
Over the years of experience, I’ve learned that every business, regardless of scale, requires a robust internal process. I excel at being an operator. While I may only sometimes come up with fantastic creative ideas, I know how to operate efficiently, put things together, and make things happen. There is generally a need for more knowledge in management among people, and most individuals seek only quick-fix solutions. They may not be willing to commit to the long term or need more patience and resilience to do so.
Adding My Values To Others
Lately, I have been mentoring Adam, the son of my former boss, to help him understand his roles and responsibilities in the company. Using my years of experience, I am providing him with guidance and support. Even though I no longer work there, I was one of the key individuals who helped bring the company to its current position. Working with Adam for one month, I have witnessed his improvement and progress. Adam has gained a more precise direction and shown commitment to change, both in his personal development and in helping put the business in order. Seeing his growth brings me immense joy and fulfilment.
Through mentoring, I contribute my values to the world, helping improve someone’s life and personal development. This is my chosen path, and I am committed to assisting others. However, I understand that mentoring can be challenging. It requires patience, empathy, and adapting to different personalities and learning styles. But the rewards are worth it. Seeing someone grow and succeed because of your guidance is incredibly fulfilling.
In addition to mentoring Adam, I have attended workshops and seminars to enhance my management skills further. I believe that continuous learning is essential for personal and professional growth. By staying updated on the latest trends and strategies in management, I can provide the best possible guidance to those I mentor.
Reflecting on my journey, finding your true passion and purpose takes time and self-discovery. Being open to new experiences and willing to take risks is essential. However, I understand the importance of being qualified and the need to enhance my skills before I can help others with a more effective structure. My second business practice, Glass Chopstick Consulting, will support startups in business management. This will be the mission of my consulting company.
Finding Joy Through Work
Yesterday, I had a photo shoot for my upcoming collection, Sinhtolina, titled Aqua e Terra. I meticulously planned every detail and thoroughly enjoyed the execution part as well. What made the photoshoot even more special was the presence of four students from Australia: Kiera, Amelia, Xenia, and Micki. They graciously helped out during the shoot, particularly Kiera, an exceptional model.
My interaction with these students began the day before when they visited my studio with three other students and a teacher. I took the opportunity to share my story with them and guide them through starting my brand, including designing and photoshoots. I also found it fascinating to discuss various aspects of life with them. While my path hasn’t always been easy, it has undoubtedly been rewarding and filled with growth and enjoyment.
Sinhtolina is not just a brand for me; it’s my chosen path. Education is another critical aspect of my journey.
Sharing my experiences and journey with others through Sinhtolina is an incredible opportunity that allows me to rediscover myself. Instead of conforming to industry norms, I focus on perfecting my craft and staying true to my unique vision. This authenticity sets me apart, and I embrace it wholeheartedly.
I am fortunate to have found my direction and possess the commitment and persistence to see it through. Although I understand that life is about more than work, I genuinely enjoy the process of working. It allows me to contribute my values to the community and make a meaningful impact. When I’m not working, I dedicate my time to studying and cherish moments with my close friends. However, I also find privilege in solitude and appreciate my company, something not everyone can comfortably embrace.
I’m doing great and celebrating my small achievements! Right now, I’m in the process of registering for accommodation at Brunel University London. I want to ensure I have a place to stay when I arrive. If the total isn’t available immediately, I’m also considering finding temporary housing for a few days or a week. There might be some uncertainty, especially since I have not received my visa result. Still, I’ve decided to take a leap of faith. Booking a flight ticket now seems risky, but the prices might skyrocket if I wait for my visa. However, I’m prepared for any outcome, as I can refund the ticket if needed.
I can’t help but feel excited about this new adventure and the thought of exploring a new country, culture, and academic environment and meeting new people. Some people express concerns about the weather or food in the UK, but I should be the judge of my own experience. This will be my first time living and studying abroad independently, and it will be a positive and fulfilling chapter in my life.
With only eight weeks left, I must stay organised and ensure all my preparations are on track. “Bravo Trinh, for your progress so far”, I talked to myself sometimes and I’ll continue to approach this journey with bravery and courage. In addition, I pat myself on my shoulder whenever I accomplish a task no matter it’s big of small, which feels good. I invite you to try it too.
In the meantime, I need to enhance my knowledge of finance. I want to build a better relationship with money as I prepare to live abroad alone. I must be careful with my finances and develop good habits to avoid difficulties. Living in the UK, one of the most expensive places in the world, makes it even more vital for me to master my financial skills.
I am skilled in planning, executing, and operating, but now I aim to add financial management to my skillset. This will benefit both my personal life and my business endeavours. With dedication and commitment, I can excel in any area I set my mind to.
So, let’s get started and make it happen!
